We all understand that it is a confusing time for parents and a difficult decision to make regarding sending their children to school when it starts on Tuesday, 28thApril or keeping their children at home.

Firstly, it is a parent’s decision to send their children to school or to keep them at home during this time of COVID-19 and social isolation. The government and schools will support parents  in whatever decision they make.

If you want to send your children to school because you are working or cannot support their learning at home, schools are open and will provide a safe learning environment for them.

If you want to keep your children at home than parents should contact their children’s school as soon as possible to advise them. Teachers will provide parents with a learning schedule and activities. Activities may be online, offline, or both. Teachers will be in regular contact with both parents and children.

This advice is based on information provided by Tasmania’s Department of Health Public Health updates and Tasmania’s Department of Education. If you have any concerns, need more advice or information please contact your children’s school directly and speak with the Principle.

For School related COVID-19 information please contact the Department of Education – Phone: 1800 816 057. Their Service Centre is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm weekdays.
